Bill Buchholtz Memorial Scholarship

Bill Buchholtz Memorial Scholarship

The Bill Buchholtz Scholarship Fund was established as a memorial to Bill Buchholtz who passed away on Saturday, September 24th, 2005. Bill was a great gentleman, a wonderful family man, a good Christian, a Navy veteran and a long time barbershopper who gave of his time and talent to the betterment of barbershop singing. He was always performing with many barbershop quartets at nursing homes, birthdays and other events. His most important contribution was assisting youth in elevating their talents above and beyond their own expectations.

The Bill Buchholtz Memorial Scholarship Fund Committee is hereby soliciting applications for an award of $750 that will be granted to a college-bound senior who has been active in the choral program of their high school or church, and plans to continue their musical involvement in college. The qualifying student does not have to major in music, but it is the hope of the committee that the winner will continue their musical development by joining a performing choral or musical group while continuing their education. We would appreciate your assistance in giving this offer the widest possible distribution among your graduating seniors.

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must prepare a maximum 300-word essay. The essay must start with applicants name, home and email address, and home and/or cell phone number. The essay should include a description of their musical background, how he or she would use the scholarship money, and a specific reason they would be deserving of this award. They should also attach three (3) letters of recommendation with their contact information. The essay and references may be submitted electronically via email, or on paper. For consideration, submissions should be postmarked (or emailed) no later than Monday, the 2nd of April, 2018.

Applications can be sent via email to mignolifrank@gmail.com , or by mail to Acappella Texas, P.O Box 181075, Austin, Texas 78718.
