FAY T. BARNES SCHOLARSHIP FUND

FAY T. BARNES SCHOLARSHIP FUND
JPMorgan Chase Bank, Trustee
Austin, Texas

Background

Fay Tinnin Fisher Barnes died December 16, 1980 at the age of ninety. She left no immediate surviving family members. Because she was a long time resident of the area, she left instructions in her will for the establishment of a scholarship fund for “worthy and deserving students” from Travis and Williamson Counties.

Funds for the Trust were primarily provided from the sale of the Tinnin Family Ranch in northwest Nebraska. The Tinnin Ranch, founded by John Tinnin, Fay T. Barnes’ father, was the first cattle ranch in Nebraska, and one of the first ranches to receive cattle driven from Texas on the Chisholm Trail.
